Union propaganda 😅
I always say this to Lost Causers when they bring up Sherman: Well, why did you make Georgia so flammable then?
If I could ask Tom Hanks, one question, it would be why were you hanging out with Jeffrey Epstein?
What movie or show was this?
Jeff Daniels should have got an Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain.
That relationship is the relationship that we should have with the Russians today!!! I hate that there’s so many people in our government that acts like Russia is our enemy and they’re not!! Would America except the Chinese setting up military barracks and infrastructure in fucking Canada or Mexico? No fucking way would they fucking accept that but it’s unreasonable that the Russians don’t want that same threat rate on their border?? I got nothing but love for Russia !!! 🇷🇺 🤝 🇺🇸
Well, thanks to your grandfather, and to so many others. My grandfather (father-side) was a prisoner in a stalag after the invasion. Never knew his brother, my granduncle, killed by the nazis as he was ordered to attract airplanes fire when they attacked the base he guarded. From Belgium, thanks for the vid.
How did this two great nations go from this to trying to destroy each other.
The Monuments Men is one of my favorite films, and lead me into researching/learning Nazi-Art Looting for the past five years. The breakdown was fun to watch, but I wish the host was a little bit more knowledgeable and let French gentleman speak more. One example: (28:16) John Goodman, and Jean-Claud Clermont's characters are in Germany (not France) when the Hitler Youth sniper child was shooting at them. The architecture is German, the signs were written in German and this would have been in March of '45.
Minute 1:18:20 I love the scene. in this scene, we see the essence of Miller as a teacher and not as a military man. The way he talks to his men, the way he guides the conversation always made me think of a teacher talking to his students. "Oh captain my captain" - "death poets society" type of dialogue. Great underrated scene.
the question of he shoot the POW is not answer properly...just said yes or no at let other people think why did he do it later...i can understand what war can do to normal people that have not kill any human being before...its 2 much BS on answering the QnA
Marijuana has zero effect and influence on leading up to events like this. It's not even worth mentioning. Alcohol however - absolutely.
Hello So, I had the pleasure of meeting and caring for one of Spiers Co. D privates in a nursing home. I ask him 2 questions, yes he did shoot a soldier for being drunk AND refusing an Order. That's something you don’t do is refuse an order during battle. And he did shoot those Germans cause they could take prisoners at tge time of D-day and he used a Grease Machine gun and not the Thompson! Currahee

This is the guy who flew a bomber plane like it was a fighter plane?
3:01 “CHAAARGE!” This is my favorite scene in this movie; no questions asked.
Hands down, one of the greatest pieces of film ever made. I didn't know of Ross until BoB, no clue he was English. It's bizarre listening to him with his natural accent. He'll always be Liebgott to me.
Years later, after Daniels had again portrayed Joshua Chamberlain at the Battle of Fredericksburg, he found out for the first time that one of his Michigan ancestors had served in the Union Army, at both Fredericksburg and Gettysburg. Having become familiar with the realities of those battles, this knowledge hit him with great force. And his casting in those two films came to have great personal meaning for him.
The Canadians liberated us and then stayed long enough to teach us baseball.
About 6000 Dutchman joined the SS. They fought exclusively on the Eastern Front. Post-war they were screened by the Dutch government. Some were sent to prison, all lost their citizenship/civil rights and a few were permitted to join the Netherlands forces fighting to suppress the Indonesian fight for independence. Urban legends have some ex-SS joining the Foreign Legion and fighting in French Indochina. A distant cousin joined the Dutch SS. He was drowned in a canal by his father and uncle before he could depart for the front. To put the level of collaboration into context 125,000 Dutch cycled through the resistance. Only 25,000 serviced the war including members of my family.
😊
Is this some kind of Coke ad

Why does 2011 look like it’s from the 80s?
Out of ammo the only option was hand to hand. They took on the charging rebs and drove them back to Richmond as is said in this film. 20th Maine held the hill. The compassion at the end of the scene when Thomas ordered someone to get some water for the Confederate officer was moving as well. As I keep saying, there were no villains in this war. Both fought with honor.
I hope you do a breakdown on this series! Would love your insight on it
The batter reflexively raises his arms to protect his head which explains the defensive hit to the left wrist or elbow. It was told by the Pirates Pitcher’s wife that he stated he thought he might end up hitting Jackie because he crowded and lean over the plate. The Pitcher was Lefty and Jackie was Righty. You have to throw across the plate to back him off. Does that sound like an accident? The daughter was 6mo. old when it happened and tries to downplay it, but admits her mom told her about the incident because it was a big deal. Premeditated accident.
You were great playing this wonderful hero, what an honor
Ron unknowingly told the entire world that his girlfriend is lactose intolerant lol

Grateful for the journalists and for these guys, who had the courage to tell their stories.
We aren't different peoples, where bullet meets bone ...,,only our governments are, and oddly enough very seldom do government people go to where bullets meet bone.
Thank you Tom Hanks for your work depicting what happened in the Pacific. There aren't enough popular sources about that war. I'd like to see something about the Death March of Baatan and Corrigidor.
" Skibidi toilet, Sigma , Rizz, "
I feel so robbed that I was a child when this was filmed. I'd probably sell my right nut to be able to have been in uniform with a weapon on the battlefield in a formation. I'm in Iraq combat veteran and a history freak. I think that would be borderline spiritual
It must be just the way it was shot but it just looks like a giant game of tab, “tag your out, stay here now”. You’d think a bayonet charge would be more, I don’t know, violent?
i would argue the Battle of Little Round Top is one of the U.S most important battles, cause if the confederates managed to have broken the 20th Maine, they wpuld have flanked and caused the Union to be in a more less ideal position, possible leading to the Union loosing Gettysburg
Once again, America is weak just as it was when the attack on Pearl Harbor took place. China is the threat this time, however. If our leaders don't get their act together and build up our military, we are screwed. The way things are right now, we cannot fight China and Russia at the same time. History does have a way of repeating itself.
